A couple of weeks back I received an email from Rui Esteves, a co-founder of Vida e Caffe, of which I am enormous fan. After the enormous success of Vida Rui has not rested on his laurels, instead choosing to reinvent the beer industry with the same passion and conviction he and his business partners brought to the ‘coffee shop’ vibe.
Brewers & Union is the result, and Rui’s email was an invitation to pop in to the new store in Heritage Square to sample his wares. Arriving there I was immediately struck at the characteristically stylish design, intoxicating ambiance and enthusiastic service. Rui and I shook hands across the main counter, where he stood dressed in what appears finely tailored B&U ‘uniforms’, leading by example. In a minute we were seated with menus and drinks on the way.
My goodness. I was expecting something good, but had no idea just how good it would be. I’m no beer connoisseur, but the combination of fine food and finely crafted lagers and ales that Rui presented to us with paternal affection were exquisite. I can’t wait to go back, and would highly recommend the experience to you too. Tell Rui I sent you 🙂
